Advocacy Services
SLA strives to provide support to parents navigating the educational systems in several ways: We can help review and interpret documents such as educational assessments or Individualized Educational Plans, we can help review and determine the appropriateness of services and supports for students, and/or we can attend educational meetings with parents to ensure that each child has access to all available supports and accommodations in the school setting to promote optimal success.
Instructional Support
SLA has gathered an abundance of materials for students in need of additional support in all academic areas. We are able to provide families with hands-on, relevant activities to enhance student performance in targeted areas. Likewise, SLA has the ability to provide progress monitoring in specific areas to determine if various methods of intervention are effective in meeting student needs. These resources will be developed specifically to meet the needs of each child and family who utilizes SLA.
Behavioral support
SLA has the ability to provide structure and routine to the home environment by developing behavioral plans to meet the needs of families and children. These routines may include: homework, bedtime, morning, and various other transitions that occur within the home. SLA will provide a plan, and work with children on developing these important life skills. Similarly, SLA can observe a child's behavior in various settings to help determine patterns and create a plan for supporting families in better understanding and targeting specific challenging behaviors.
